FAQ:
What’s involved at the Diabetes Event?
We will have health professionals from different Teams/Organisations which include DESMOND, Podiatry, Healthy You to name a few, along with Leisure Industry Representatives attending where they will hold an information stand. This is all to raise awareness and prevention of Diabetes, along with self-management of Diabetes, helping empower people to manage their health condition by making them feel engaged with the support available.
Who’s organised the event?
This has been organised by the Integrated Neighbourhood Teams in the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough ICS, alongside the teams attending the events. A similar event was held in Cambridge at the start of the year, and North Place will be holding three events across their area, one of which will be held in Peterborough.
We have targeted these areas based on data showing a higher prevalence of diabetes within the local community.
Will this increase the workload on GPs/Practices?
This event will not have an intended increase on GPs/Practices work load. Referrals to programmes such as DESMOND, Healthy You etc. can be self-referrals, whilst we can also talk about the wider services available within a Practice, i.e. social prescribers.
How will we know if the event has been a success?
We will be collating the number of people who have intended, gathering their feedback on the event and speaking with the teams attending to find out if they received any self-referrals. This will be shared with the PCN in November after all three events have taken place.
